4 Stars - My old Centurion road bike came with the strap pedals. They bothered me and I decided to buy clipless ones. My price range was $30, and after reading various reviews they seemed to be the best choice. I am happy about the purchase. The cleat is durable, easy to walk in, easy to set up and the pedal mechanism holds your foot in when you want it and releases when needed. Few years back I had Lemond Zurich with Look pedals, but I like these better, although they are meant for mountain bikes.

If you are a weekend warrior or getting clipless for the first time, I recommend these pedals. They are reliable, safe and the price is good.

5 Stars - These pedals are great, being Shimano's entry level pedals for mountain biking. The box comes with left and right pedals (clearly marked), a pair of SH-51 cleats (single direction release cleats), and the instruction manual. (1) Assembly was easy. Take off the old pedals, clean the threads on the crank arms, and then screw in your new M520 with either an allen wrench or a special pedal wrench. Be careful not to strip threads, the right pedal is a right hand thread (righty tighty), and the left is the other way. (2) Assemble the cleats on your SPD shoes (if you've just bought new shoes), to the location you want on your sole. (3) Practice clipping in and out! On a flat surface without moving (brakes applied), bring your foot in from the top, slide the cleat into the pedal, and then push down on the platform. Snap! You're in (you'll hear it). Notice the shoes and pedals become one. For the SH-51 cleats, twist your heel out (or in, though unrecommended), and pedal releases. If you feel it's too hard to get in or out, you can adjust the tension on the pedal with an allen wrench to get that perfect clip.
